Alec Cooke, better known as Ace Cool, was 45 years old when Nathan Myers interviewed him by email in 2001 for entry in The Encyclopedia of Surfing.
This interview was originally published as "Bob Cooper: Naturally Unique," in the October 1968 issue of Petersen's Surfing. Cooper, a regular at Rincon in the late '50s and early '60s, sometimes referred to as "the Bearded Bard," was 31, and dividing his time between Southern California and New South Wales, Australia.
This article was published as "The Album of Conrad Canha," along with a half-dozen photos, in the May 1967 issue of Surfing. Canha was 34 years old.
"Foaming: an Interview with Gordon Clark" was written by Paul Chapey, and ran in the April 1972 issue of Surfing in a piece titled "Foaming." Clark was quoted occasionally over the years, but seems to be the first and only full-length interview he ever did.
This interview, recorded by Jack McCoy, ran in the May 1976 issue of SURFER, and was titled "Ian: We're Number One!" Cairns was 24 years old.
